Lot essay

Two of this set of three were designed in the 1930s. They are called Lillicrap Hones and are used to sharpen safety razors. It was developed and manufactured by a man whose name was Joseph Lillicrap. They gained popularity at the time of World War II, when the supply of razors and blades was little. British soldiers were also given Lillicrap Hones to use. The third of this set is a design based on the Lillicrap Hone and is in blue.
