The Lalit Kala Akademi, or National Academy of Art in New Delhi was set up 1954, by the then Minister for Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It aims to "preserve the glorious traditions of the past and enrich them by the work of our modern artists". The Akademi has enriched the Indian art landscape in several ways, holding exhibitions, overseeing participation of India in internation venues like the Venice Biennale, offering fellowships and grants, and putting forth other educational material and publications.
This set of two portfolios from Lalit Kala Akademi features Indian Miniature Paintings with writeups. The Portfolio numbers are Series III, No.29 and Series V, No.31.
